PBS (or The Public Broadcasting Service) is an American public broadcaster and television program distributor made up of more than 350 member television stations. PBS is an independently operated non-profit organization, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, USA, right outside of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States).
PBS aired Shining Time Station from 1989 to 1998, with new episodes airing from 1989 to 1993. PBS also aired The Family Specials at a primetime slot and Mr. Conductor's Thomas Tales on their PTV Park block.
In 2004, Thomas & Friends premiered on their PBS Kids block as a standalone program (starting off with its eighth season).
On December 31, 2017, Thomas & Friends' partnership with PBS Kids ended with the special, Journey Beyond Sodor and the show later moved to Nick Jr..
