Shining Time Station Wiki

Scare Dares is the second season premiere. It is the twenty-first episode of the series overall.

Time has passed since Mr. Nicholas visited Shining Time Station as an older Matt and Tanya are writing to their cousins; Dan and Kara about how things have changed for the most part in the station. Stacy is still head of the station, Harry has gone to work at Fort Farley as Billy Twofeathers has taken his place in the workshop while Schemer remains the same. They also give mention to Mr. Conductor leaving with Mr. Nicholas to help at the north pole, but to fill in his place his is cousin by the same name. The two happily await for their cousins arrival.

Halloween Night

Kara, Matt and Tanya are all dressed and ready for Halloween while Dan is still wondering what to make for his costume, he looks around the station for ideas. As he does so Kara and Dan meet Mr. Conductor who at first is afraid of them but they reassure him that they want him around, he properly introduces himself to the kids and tells them a story about the time Percy played a ghostly trick on Thomas. Schemer is trying to make a quick buck by selling old rotten pumpkins by repainting them to make them look new. In true Halloween fashion Kara dares Dan to take a banana from Midge Smoot's hat and places it in Schemers pumpkin pile. Dan still can't find an idea for his costume and worries no one will like him if he's scared. Mr. Conductor comforts him letting him know he was scared of Dan until he got to know him.

That night the station is busy with children all in costumes and trick or treat bags. Kara, Matt, Tanya and Becky all arrive to meet Stacy but Dan is nowhere to be seen. Once Dan arrives he is pressured into pulling another dare this time involving Billy's workshop. Dan meets Billy who helps him with his costume after giving him some advice. Meanwhile The JukeBox Band, who are also dressed for the night perform a song with Didi, or so they think as they find out the one singing was a real ghost. The kids return from trick or treating when Dan comes out of the workshop in his costume, scaring Kara, Matt, Tanya and Becky. After they offer him another dare he refuses taking Billy's advice to heart.

Thomas Stories

Percy tells Thomas and Toby a story about a Ghost Train, which he believes haunts the line.  Thomas dismisses the story and calls Percy “a silly little engine”.  Percy is disappointed to find that the story was simply a pretend story, but seizes an opportunity to get back at Thomas after crashing into a stray cartload of lime, which gives him a ghostly appearance.  With Toby’s help, they deceive Thomas into believing that Percy’s “ghost” is coming back to warn them. And when Percy does indeed arrive, Thomas hurries away in fright, too afraid to return to the shed until next morning. Percy and Toby chuckle about their adventure afterwards.
Percy teases Thomas about being frightened, remembering the time he pretended to be a ghost to scare Thomas.  But one day, due to jammed switches, Percy has to spend the night in a siding.  He’s left all alone, and gets a fright when a huge Chinese dragon rushes pass him, which Thomas has collected from the harbor for delivery.  The following morning, the other engines don’t believe Percy’s story and tease him.  Percy soon learns the Dragon was only a paper float that Thomas was delivering to the carnival the night before, and both apologize to one another.
